About me

Hi, I’m Alleyah Charlton, a Brooklyn-based graphic designer, social media creative, event organizer, and writer whose work lives at the intersection of design, storytelling, and community.

My design style is bold, colorful, expressive, and people-centered. I create flyers and digital graphics that feel inviting, energetic, and easy to understand, using vibrant color palettes, strong typography, layered imagery, illustrated elements, and clear visual hierarchy. Whether I’m designing an event flyer, Instagram post, palm card, or promotional graphic, my goal is always the same: to make people stop, read, connect, and feel called into the space.

I am highly proficient in Canva and use it as a professional design tool to create polished, accessible, and visually engaging materials. My technique combines creativity with strategy. I pay close attention to layout, readability, tone, audience, and the emotional atmosphere of each design. I like creating visuals that do more than announce information, they create a mood, tell a story, and help an event or brand feel alive.

A large part of my portfolio comes from my time as the Social Media Associate for the Women’s Center at Brooklyn College and my three years as President of the Women’s History Month Committee. Through these roles, I designed graphics for campus events, women-centered programming, cultural celebrations, workshops, fundraisers, student resources, and community conversations. These experiences shaped my approach to design as both a creative practice and a tool for connection, visibility, and organizing.

Alongside design, writing is one of my strongest skills. I bring a thoughtful and intentional voice to captions, event descriptions, campaign language, and brand messaging. I believe strong visuals and strong words should work together, one catching the eye, the other giving the message somewhere to land.

At the heart of my work is a love for making ideas feel tangible. I am motivated by culture, community, advocacy, and the power of creative communication to bring people together. My portfolio reflects my growth as a designer, organizer, and storyteller, with each project showing how design can turn information into invitation.
